The Dangers Of Prayerlessness By Pastor Deji Agboade (Hicc)

Use your own sling and stick,  don't look for the armour of Saul(1 Samuel 17:37-51)

37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.”

38 Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.

“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

41 Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David. 42 He looked David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he despised him. 43 He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44 “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!”

45 David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your
head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.

Jesus in Gethsemane (Mathew 26:36- 46)

36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”
43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

This is the critical role of prayer in life of Jesus, He understood the place of prayer in the journey ahead of him
But you must note that Satan will do everything possible to stop you from prayer because he understands the power of prayer.  Whatever that stops you from praying makes Satan successful, he also discredit prayer
Satan has filled our mind with junk Fasting is not what God answer your prayer,  you fast to gain access to God
Satan steals the word of God by distracting you
As a Christian,  prayerlessness cannot be your normal- When you go a week without prayer, your Christianity starts losing values
What happened when we don't pray
There is increase in demonic activity,  whatever you don't confront will remain-John 10:10(

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.)
- Satan will steal when he discovered you don't care,  come back and kill and after which,  he destroys,  prayerless Christian experience destruction often.

-James 5:13 The antidote to depression is prayer-when you pray  God will listen to you
Prayer releases the activities of angel
Prayer gives you assurance for the future
-Prayerlessness can leads to the harm of other people -Luke 22:32- You can stop evil from happening to your family by praying
Prayerlessness will cause weaknesses in executing future /spiritual things
Prayer gives permission to the things of God in your life
