Even though Governor Rochas Okorocha reportedly denied that lives were lost in the exercise, the father of the deceased, Mr Isaiah Ibeanusi, continues to blame the soldiers that were allegedly deployed by the governor.
We gathered that some delegates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recently visited the deceased’s home, to extend their condolences.

Dr Lola Akande, Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), on Thursday said that many women, by their actions, are the cause of the rate of domestic violence in Nigeria.
Akande, who was represented by Mrs Olushola Falana, Director, Women Development Department, WAPA, made the observation at a programme on Management of Domestic Violence, organised by the ministry in Lagos.
From left: Mr. Steve Ayorinde; WAPA Commissioner, Lola Akande and the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Abiola Liadi.
According to her, negligence, sophistication, misguided utterances, infidelity, use of abusive words and gullibility on the part of the women, are factors that drive domestic violence.
“It is no longer news that many women have lost their lives through domestic violence.
“The more we try to put the blame on the men folk, the more we will continue to turn blind eyes to the fact that many women are the cause of the domestic violence we see today.
“This is because we fail to understand some important aspects of how most men are wired.
“Some women also cause violence by using abusive words and misguided utterances that can provoke the men.

2019: Before Obasanjo dribbles the Agbakobas by Martins Oloja

Published exchange of political letters between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) may not be enough art yet to find their mind’s construction in the face at this time. Butthe exchange is quite instructive and didactic.
Olisa Agbakoba
The point at issue here is that Chief Obasanjo last week
Asked Olisa Agbakoba, an eminent lawyer and human rights activist, to purge himself of passivity and get ready for leadership in the country. The former president conveyed this clear message in a letter he wrote in response to an earlier one by Agbakoba.
In a letter dated July 20, Agbakoba expressed concern to the General about the quality of leadership in the country and called for the mantle of leadership to be transferred to the vibrant youth.
The veteran lawyer in the letter quoted an iconic scholar, Chinua Achebe who had in 1983 noted in a little book that,“the trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership”. And so he blamed the country’s lack of progress on successive leadership that has outlived its usefulness and effectiveness as a result of old age.
Agbakoba, who also cited the like of the same Obasanjo, the late Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello stated that, “modern history of Nigeria was shaped by young people.”He,

Why Girls Now Reach Puberty Early

There have been recent cases of girls attaining puberty at a very early age without a concrete explanation, but this piece appears to give many answers to questions.
Showing all the trappings of a young adult, one would need more than just words to believe that Funke (surname withheld) is just eight years old.
At her age, she already developed breasts, one of the primary indicators of puberty in females. And the way other parts are growing very rapidly would almost give an impression that she’s someone in her early 20s.
But, truly, Funke is eight, according to her dad, who also expressed surprise with the way she’s ‘growing’, and is now unsettled due to the girl’s likely premature s*xual attention from men. He is equally unsure if the situation is normal, more so that she has also started menstruating. The medical term for early puberty is called precocious puberty.
Realistically, Funke is not alone and her father’s fear is quite understandable. In fact, her case is a fitting reflection of what now obtains across the world, whereby young girls now show obvious signs of reaching puberty, as against what obtained in the past, say about 20 years ago, when girls wouldn’t exhibit any sign of puberty until about 15 years upwards.
Meanwhile, other indicators of puberty include underarm hair, certain body odour, since the sweat

What I Hate To Do The Most – Nollywood Actor, RMD

Richard Mofe Damijo is one of the few good Nigerian actors who are still relevant to the entertainment circle till date with good jobs to show for it.
No matter how actor Richard Mofe Damijo looks, many people, especially the ladies, would still love him.
When the actor debuted his new look on his Instagram page where he was spotting a beard, many people thought RMD, as he is popularly called, had joined the ‘beard gang.’
But speaking to Saturday Beats recently, he gave reasons why he let his beard grow.
“I hate to shave, so once I have an opportunity not to work, I let it grow. I don’t keep it for the sake of grooming it. I just leave my beard because I don’t want to shave. I would say that shaving is about the most personal thing I hate to do and it is because I’d have to stop everything I am doing just to shave.

“Ironically, it is one of the most therapeutic things for me. If I need to calm down fast, all I do is shave and that is simply because I have to be calm to shave. So it helps me as well. I keep a clean shaved head not because it is a brand identity but because I cannot keep an afro. Since my hair does not grow enough to become an afro, I just keep it clean,” he said.

French President Macron spends €26,000 on make-up in 100 days

He’s only 39 and fresh-faced, but France’s President Emmanuel Macron has run up a make-up bill of €26,000 in his first 100 days in office, offering fresh ammunition to his critics.
The bill, revealed by Le Point magazine and confirmed by the presidency to AFP on Friday, was paid to a freelance make-up artist for work since the centrist took power in mid-May.

Emmanuel Macron

It recalled an embarrassing revelation about the balding former president Francois Hollande who was forced to admit to employing a private hairdresser on a pre-tax monthly salary of nearly €10,000 ($11,800).
Opponents seized on the total of the make-up bills — one for €10,000s and another for €16,000 — with most of the French media publishing stories about the issue.
“While France is slaving away, Macron is spreading (the equivalent of) 23 times the minimum wage on his face,” wrote far-right strategist Florian Philippot on Twitter.
A source in the presidency told BFM television that future costs would be “significantly reduced,”

Trump’s security adviser Gorka quits White House

Divisive Donald Trump aide Sebastian Gorka departed the White House Friday in a shroud of controversy, with conflicting claims about whether he resigned or got the boot.
“Sebastian Gorka did not resign, but I can confirm he no longer works at the White House,” an administration official said after reports that Gorka had left voluntarily.

Gorka, 46, had become a familiar face on television, offering a bombastic defense of the US president in a strong English accent. Born in London to Hungarian parents, he became a US citizen in recent years.
A deputy assistant to the president, he had been accused of ties to far-right groups and his claimed counter-terrorism knowledge was repeatedly questioned by peers.
His failure to gain security clearance cast doubts over his day-to-day role inside Trump’s White House.
He had been seen entering Oval Office events not with staff but with the press, and snapping photos from the press position behind the wings of Air Force One.
